U9’s First League Match Ever v Streatley Strikers 12/9/09
Posted in U9s News ... November 5th, 2009
Well we are off then!
Hope the boys really enjoyed today it was great to see them come together as a team and perform so well.
I thought we dominated the first half and 1-0 maybe could have been 3-0, credit to Harry for his great strike and scoring our first league goal. Kyle got himself into some great positions which was impressive as it was the first time he played that position. Nathan did well when he came on up front again not a position he is used to playing in. We maybe tinkering around with the formation and positions for a while as we want the boys to be flexible and learn different patterns of play etc.
We ran out of steam a bit in the 2nd half so maybe I’ll have to increase the fitness work!!! Thought we were a bit unlucky conceding the goal in the manner we did but on the balance of play a draw was pretty fair.
Our midfield was very mobile today getting up and down the park well, Callum ran his socks off and Brandon was a deserving winner of the effort award.
Leon and Jake were very solid in the first half but we shouldn’t forget Ben’s last ditch tackle in the last minute which saved us from losing a game we never deserved to.
Taylor where did you get that long kick from! And a great save in the 2nd half mate.
So see you all for training on Wednesday, usual time, usual place!
I think we can expect a very tough game next week against one of the league’s strongest teams Barton Rovers, but I’m sure we are up to it!
