Our last game of the season was an evening game against Bracknell FC at The IBIS Club. We were the better team in the first half and the lightning quick Jonti Merry was causing mayhem playing through the middle, but it was left to Ben Orme to stroke home the first goal after some great build up play. The second arrived soon afterwards, with a cross shot flying into the top corner from Lewis Careless. They pulled one back for a half time score of 2 – 1. The second half saw some good football from both teams, and it was the impressive substitute, Josh Roberts that sealed the 3 pts with a superbly taken goal. The manager saved special praise for Luke Bryant who wa sabbsolutely immense at the back and was responsible for saving us on at least a dozen times. Unbeaten at home, unbeaten for 15 games and 7 months !!!

Man Of The Match: Luke Bryant.

It was very simple in our game against Wokingham & Embrook, ‘win the game to win the league’. We started brightly and were soon 1 – 0 up after a good finish from Adam Brocks, however, a very well placed free kick saw them peg us back to 1 – 1. Enter Lewis Careless, the midfield general, who took the game by the scruff of the neck, with some slick passing and snapping into the tackle. He puts a free kick on a plate for Matt Emmett to put us 2 – 1 up at the break. Another Adam Brocks goal in the second half then had us 3 – 1 up and we started to realise that one hand was on the trophy – when ouch, they score another and it’s 3 – 2. With the time ticking down and five minutes remaining, Pierce sets the ball for Ben Orme to calmly steer the ball past the keeper and into the net, 4 – 2 and it’s all over.

We are the Champions !!!

Nuff Said !!!

Man Of The Match: Lewis Careless

Saturday pitched us away to Yateley, and we made a perfect start playing composed and attractive football. The first goal came after 20 minutes scored by Adam Brocks after good work from Jonti Merry. It didn’t take long before we doubled the lead, and it was that man again, Jonti, who popped up to smash the ball into the back of the net. The third came from a corner just before the break, headed home by Matt Emmett, who was playing at centre back in place of the injured Tom Bullion. Half time we lead 3 – 0. Yateley pulled two goals back after the break, before Adam Brocks raced through and coolly slots home his second, makes it 4 – 2 and seals the 3 points. All we need now is 3 more points from the remaining two games to be champions. Come on the Blues !!

Man Of The Match: Adam Brocks

What a week ! Firstly I haven’t got Josh Roberts and Jack Pownall (school trip), then we lose Ben Orme for the season with knee ligament damage. Just when you think it can’t get any worse, Bully then dislocates his shoulder playing that silly game with the egg shaped ball (rugby), again, out for the season ! So we go to Woodley Falcons with the bare 11 and start the game very well. The passing, moving and communication was first class, and the result was a 1 – 0 lead thanks to an own goal after great work from Adam Brocks. A scramble in our box leads to a half time score of 1 – 1. The second half saw us take better control of the game and a sweet strike from Josh Bishop into the top corner from a full 20 yards edged us up 2 – 1. With Woodley trying to get back in the game, space was opening up and again after great work from Adam Brocks, up steps Pierce to steer the ball into the net and seal the game with a 3 – 1 victory. A manager shouldn’t have to go through this !!

Our penultimate home game of the season pitched us against Darby Green, a team that had pushed us hard at their place. An early morning sickness call from George meant that our top scorer Adam Brock donned the gloves and was in inspired form with at least four absolutely superb saves. Despite the early exchanges being fairly even Darby took the lead with a well engineered team goal after twenty minutes, and then put through their own net for 1 – 1 at the break. The second half saw us take complete control with Lewis Careless scoring his second in two games two minutes in, and we never looked back from there. A furher two goals from Josh Bishop and a strike from from Josh Roberts eased us home 5 – 1. Not the greatest performance of the season but the result was more important. Four games left and it’s all in our hands !!

It’s a good job that nobody had to pay to see us against Ascot, as we were rubbish for the first 70 minutes !! Already trailing 1 – 0 at half time, and with the manager’s comments ringing in their ears, it was no surprise when we then go 2 – 0 down. Then with 10 minutes to go we start to play football, and Luke Bryant latches onto a ball from a corner and smashes the ball home, 2 – 1. Five minutes later and we are now camped in their half, and the very skilful Lewis Careless unleashes an unstopable shot from 25 yards, 2 – 2. At that stage I would have been happy to escape with a point, but credit where it’s due, the lads refused to give up, and after some great wing play in the dying seconds from Lewis, he squares the ball to Matt Emmett on the edge of the area, who beats his man and curls the ball into the top far corner. The lads go wild and celebrate a win that we truly didn’t deserve, but am happy to take.

Saturday had us entertaining AFC Crowthorne, and despite the terrible weather, the lads had the three ponts in the bag after the first ten minutes, as Josh Bishop had already bagged himself a superb brace. Another goal before the beak from the lively Josh Roberts saw us leading 3 – 0 at half time. The second half started as the first had finished, with our midfield quartet of Jamie Pittman, Matt Emmett, Jonti Merry and Josh Bishop dominating proceedings, and with the back four looking virtually impenetrable, it was simply a case of how many (without being disrepectful). Further strikes form Pierce Sturgess (2), Adam Brocks (2), Johnny Randall and Tom Bullion had us scoring 9. There was still time for George to watch the ball bounce over his head to hand AFC their consolation, which they more than deserved, and for us to gain a penalty. Up stepped Jack Pownall for a chance of glory, but arrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh he doesn’t score – I’m convinced he’ll get another opportunity. Still top of the league and the dream is still alive.

Saturday we entertained the impressive Woodley Kestrels, the team that had beaten us 2 – 1 on the opening day of the season. In a tight first half that saw a fierce Kestrels drive from 20 yards hit the bar, and at least five good oppotunities from us well saved by their keeper, it was 0 – 0 at half time. I made two changes in the interval, bringing on Pierce Sturgess and giving a debut to our new signing, Lewis Careless. What a second half display !! Every player was absolutely superb, we were passing the ball with supreme confidence and 15 minutes in, after another fantastic build up, Jonti receives the ball with his back to goal 18 yards out, turns, and simply passes the ball at pace around the stranded keeper. 1 – 0. The best was yet to come, as 25 minutes into the second half, and with the ball coming to him at waist height, Jamie Pittman swivels on his left and strikes the sweetest right foot volley from 20 yards into the top corner – keeper, NO CHANCE !!. We win 2 – 0 and George in goal has one shot to save – what an outstanding performance. This team just gets better and better !!

The referee saw fit to send one of our players off, even though he wasn’t the agressor – ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING !! The ten men then battled for the remaining 70 minutes with pride and passion and the game finished 1 – 1. All the lads should be very proud of themselves for their conduct in the face of such provocation, they were a credit to the club.

Having gone 6 weeks without a game, Saturday 23rd brought us our home game against Whitegrove Tigers, who have been going well and in second place in the league. The manager demanded a fast start to the game, and that’s exactly what the team gave us. Five minutes gone and Matt Emmett smashes a 20 yard volley past the keeper, giving him no chance, and as the supporters are still celebrating, up steps the lighting quick Jonti Merry, to finish off a wonderful team move. 2 – 0 up and eight minutes played. Whitegrove grab a goal mid way through the half, only for Ben Orme to steer the ball into the net after showing great strength to hold the defender off. Half time and we’re up 3 – 1.

The second half saw Whitegrove completely passed off the park, and we add a fourth goal when the collosus (Tom Bullion) rises like a salmon at the far post to head home a corner.

We stay top with a comfortable 4 – 1 win, which could have been more, had it not been for Whitegrove’s man of the match – the keeper !!

Every member of the team gave an eight out of ten performance, and should be very proud of their display today !!! Absolutely superb !!
